We traded our ‘98 V70 red brick for my grandpas Corvette while he was out of town last week. You know what? I think I like the Volvo more.

The Corvette is great fun, Don’t get me wrong! Jakes V12 Mercedes and I take it out whenever we get the chance and it’s very good fun. But fun like for a day fun.... The only redeeming feature is the loud pedal. There’s nothing else to the car really... Build quality is truly poor. Truly truly poor. And the cabin is loud. And the steering is wrong. And the seats are meh. I mean on a Saturday afternoon, taking this thing for a 20 minute spin is great! But every day is just a little boring.

It’s cool in a loud, fast kind of way, and I guess that’s just not as appealing to me as heavy, Swedish, 5 cylinder brick kind of way. What would you like to know oppo?

Can you elaborate on steering being wrong? and as well the build quality...is the interior not an enjoyable place to be?

What model year is it?

What do you mean “seats are meh”? Relative to a 2010 Corolla or a 2010 M3? I ask because I can live with a 2010 Corolla seats if it means I get the speed.

RE: The seats are meh

Are you perhaps not ‘murica sized?

My mother has got a C5 and I would love to get it on a track, but otherwise I agree with you. Typical GM “quality” inside, and it’s inconveniently low with that protruding nose. She even agrees as it’s her second car.

Not something that I would want to own personally, but I never balk at an opportunity to take it out when I am at my parents place. Her’s has got 3 pedals and a full exhaust.

I have an 08'. The interior is just cheap. Cobalt steering wheel, generic plastic dash, chinsy buttons, etc.

And the electric door releases also make the car feel cheap. In theory, you touch the button, and the door opens. In reality, you stand there molesting the button waiting for the door to to wake up and open. It’s just a clumsily-executed system that makes the car feel cheap.

Pre C7 Vette’s make fantastic track cars, but are just not build for daily driving. Mine only sees track duty.

The steering is heavy, which is not a bad thing. But it feels like it should be more responsive than it is. You can really feel the road through the wheel, but when you’re throwing it around some twisties, there’s a lot of question on where the car is actually going to go when you turn the wheel. You really have to work to point it in the right direction, and keep it pointing there.

The front of the car also doesn’t cope well with bumps. It jumps around on the road if you hit a bump in a corner. I’m sure it has to do with the stiff springs but it just makes spirited cornering a bit more of a chore.

See this is exactly what I was thinking. I think this car would make a fantastic track car! It's just unsure of itself on the road.

The seats feel like they were made by Rubbermaid and wrapped in some really bad pleather....
